Tips for Visiting South Bay MetroLagoon

📍16881 Lagoon Shore Blvd, Wimauma, FL 33598

I first saw the MetroLagoons crystal clear waters as I was scrolling through Facebook. I was intrigued and started researching. Apparently there are actually two in the Tampa area — just north of us, with one more planned to be built in our area (N Fort Myers). These man made lagoons are built within neighborhoods — but are open to the public. ✌🏻

If you buy tickets online, you can save money. If you go during the week you can also save. Here are a few tips if you plan to go:

1️⃣ They don’t allow food or drinks, but do offer a variety of food truck options. So plan accordingly.

2️⃣ Don’t pay for water, bring a water bottle for everyone and fill them at the bar (free water stand).

3️⃣ Do the inflatable obstacle course early. It gets packed after 3pm due to discounted ticket rates in the afternoon.

4️⃣ Be prepared for non-heated water. Floridians may struggle with this — during the winter and spring months, the water is in the 70s.

5️⃣ During the weekend there’s more activities — for instance the swim up bar wasn’t open when we were there.

6️⃣ You should receive a bracelet for each activity you purchased, be sure you receive them at the gate.

7️⃣ The obstacle course times start at the top of the hour, be ready to start waiting in line a few minutes before.

8️⃣ You can bring your own sand toys and one noodle per person for floating.

Here’s the cost break down:

Weekday ticket price
$20 adults
$10 kids

Extras
$250 Aquacabana
$199 Cabana
$25 umbrellas
$50 mini tikis

Activities
$12 obstacle course (40 mins)
$12 kayak or paddleboard (60 mins)

Overall, we really enjoyed the Lagoons, but would love to go back in the summer and on a weekend when the water is warmer and more activities are available. It’s a fun way to spend the afternoon — especially with a large group. I’m already dreaming of going back and floating around on an aquacabana! 🍹
